Pantone selected a grounded gray and a bright yellow for 2021. The pairing fits rooms where gray stone or tile carries the permanent surface and yellow appears in smaller pieces.
Use gray as the fixed surface
Soapstone, gray quartz, porcelain tile, or painted cabinetry can establish the neutral base. These materials leave room for color changes over time.
Add yellow at your preferred scale
A chair, light fixture, or painted wall gives you a modest amount of yellow. Patterned tile and a full feature wall make the color part of the room for years.
