A countertop price depends on the selected material and slab yield, finished square footage, thickness, edge work, sink and appliance cutouts, seams, support, backsplash, removal scope, access, and installation conditions. Rough dimensions can start a useful planning conversation. Granite Division confirms the project price after the material and finished measurements are known.
What belongs in a countertop quote?
A useful quote separates the selected material from the work needed to turn it into a finished installation. Ask whether template, fabrication, standard cutouts, edge work, delivery, installation, removal, plumbing, backsplash, support, and tax are included or listed separately.
Why can two kitchens with the same square footage price differently?
Square footage does not show slab yield, vein direction, seam limits, sink rails, corners, access, or the number of finished edges. A compact plan with a large island and strong movement can use material differently from a longer room made of simple straight runs.
Which fabrication details add work?
Multiple sink and appliance cutouts, mitered or built-up edges, waterfalls, full-height splash, difficult seams, polished cutouts, curves, and special reinforcement can add shop and installation work. The exact drawing is more useful than a generic price per square foot.
What can rough measurements tell you?
Rough lengths and depths can support an early range and help compare material paths. They do not replace final field measurements. Cabinets, panels, appliances, sinks, walls, and access must be settled before the shop can fabricate accurately.
- Sketch each run with rough length and depth
- List islands, splashes, and waterfalls
- Identify the sink and major appliances
- Photograph access, walls, and existing counters

Questions homeowners ask us
Why does slab yield affect price?
The pieces must fit the slab while respecting movement, cutouts, seams, and usable areas. The same finished area can require a different number of slabs or create different leftover material.
Is a remnant always less expensive?
No. A suitable remnant can avoid buying a full slab for a small scope, but fabrication, cutouts, edges, handling, and installation still apply.
Can I get a price before cabinets are installed?
Rough dimensions can support planning. Final fabrication and the confirmed project price depend on the selected material, finished design, and field conditions.
